Going to the dentist, going to the department of motor vehicles, moving: Is there anything else that we dislike more?
How about moving an entire IT infrastructure to the cloud?
As unpleasant as that sounds, it doesn’t have to be. In fact, it’s our specialty. We have been helping companies migrate for many years.
Getting experts like WSM involved certainly adds a level of comfort that comes from working with people who have done it thousands of times for organizations of all sizes.
That said, there are things to think about before embarking on a cloud migration project. We have written extensively about it over the years, but it never hurts to be reminded of good tips for an effective migration.
That’s why this recent story by Sharon Gaudin over at Computerworld caught our attention. Her “Five pitfalls to avoid when migrating to the cloud” offers some refreshing and timely reminders of things to think about when embarking on a cloud migration project.
It’s a great read with comments from IT leaders who actually did it. Learn from their experience.
And when you are ready to make the move yourself, feel free to take advantage of our experience. We’ve done it almost too many times to count and would be more than happy to start the conversation that makes the process as seamless and painless as possible.
(Sorry, though. There isn’t enough money in the world to get us to go to the DMV or dentist for you.)
